Mindset of demolishing media outlets is reckless: Ambassador Mushfiq

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Mexico Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has said that any mindset aimed at demolishing media outlets or establishments under the pretext of differing opinions or dissent is reckless and a manifestation of sheer hatred.

 

In a post on his verified Facebook account on Sunday (21 December), the ambassador, who holds the rank of senior secretary, said he had never devoted years of struggle at home or abroad, nor worked to build global opinion, to justify such objectives.

 

A former journalist who has consistently spoken in favour of democracy, human rights and freedom of expression at briefings of the United Nations and the White House, Ansarey wrote that there is no scope to legitimise attempts to destroy any media institution.

“There is no opportunity to justify such acts,” he wrote in the concluding line of his post.
